Thankfulness 2013

 The season of Thanksgiving made me think more about teaching my boys gratitude.  It is not a natural sense for small children to have gratitude.  I as an adult am still learning to feel it, demonstrate it, be aware of it each day.  I need to model it and teach it to my boys.  A few days before Thanksgiving I talked to the boys about making cookies for our local firemen to say "Thank you" during this time of year.  They were up for it.  I had envisioned taking turns and cheerfully making delicious cookies.  We got them done but there was more fighting over who got to put in ingredients first and fingers in the cookie dough than I would have liked.  In the end we wrapped up about 3 dozen cookies and made some thank you cards for the firemen.  I'm not going to be PC this firehouse has only men at it.  They even said most of the women work in dispatch.  I should have taken a picture of their cards but didn't.  Lucas wrote in his card "Thank you for saving the world".  Marcus drew a great picture all in red.

 The firemen were AWESOME!  I just planned to drop of the cookies and go not wanting to bother them.  They invited us into the garage to look at the fire trucks and told us all about their equipment.  The boys really enjoyed jumping into the trucks.  I hope this is a good black and white lesson on saying thank you to others.  We gained so much more from the experience than we put into it.

 Thanksgiving day we did the Fort Worth Turkey Trot.  3rd year in a row!  We are SOOO PROUD of Lucas he ran the whole thing a little over 3 miles!  Giam ran alongside him.  Lucas said he would do it and did very impressed by his mental will at the age of barely 6.  I walked and pushed Thomas in the stroller.   Marcus ran/walked with me and rode in the front of the stroller when he needed a break.

 GiGi was there 3rd year in a row to support everyone.

After the Turkey Trot we headed up to Plano for Thanksgiving with Tortia and the Hernandez Family.  I didn't take any pictures :(  The boys had a great time with their cousins and it was nice to catch up with family.
