Key West June 2014

Before Gigi went back to Texas we snuck in on night away in Key West.  A fun, relaxing reward after the move.  I thought it would be a short drive but it took about 4.5 hours because most of it is a two lane road.  It's pretty much just a cute little beach town not as fancy as I thought it would be but pricey.  One night is about all we could afford.

The funnest thing we did was a snorkel excursion.  They take you out to the reefs and it is really beautiful.  The fish are the most vibrant colors.  You pretty much float in the salt water so you can swim and rest and swim some more.  I learned the hard way you can't dive down deep with the snorkel in your mouth.  The first time I tried I aspirated what felt like a cup of salt water, but I recovered.  I soon learned to just take the snorkel out of my mouth when diving down.  Some people can blow the water out under water but not me.  Even Giam who doesn't like swimming or water very much really enjoyed it.  I hope to take the boys on some snorkeling trips when they are bigger just someplace closer.  They even give you beer when your done and the boat is driving in.

The beautiful sunset as the boat drove in.

The next day we walked around town, visited the Ernest Hemingway house, and had a drink by the water.

This picture reminds me I need to work on my posture.  We could use a couples weekend every month.  We will take them when we can get them.
