Our first born entered his 5th year of life October 23, 2012. I'll use the cliche "Where does the time go?" He looks big, thinks he is big, but he will always be my baby. A few facts I want to remember: he can ride a 2 wheel bike like a pro has been since he was four, he loves to run, on the play ground at school he and his friend Elizabeth race the cars of other children as they are being picked up and driving away, he can read Bob books level one and is recognizing words in other books we read, he can do 3 digit simple addition, he loves Kumon Maze books, he likes pop music like Taylor Swift's "We are never getting back together", he is very smart and curious always asking how things work and remembering things later, he likes to teach Marcus little facts he has learned. He is sweet, still stubborn, smart, beautiful little boy and I'm so glad he is ours!
5 year stats: weight 42 lbs - 59%, height 44 1/4 in. - 76%, blood pressure 104/70 (yes the pediatrician checks this now), vision 20/30.
We celebrated Lucas with his choice of a birthday party at Pump it Up an inflatable jump house place where he had gone to parties for friends at school. He had been asking for his 5th birthday to be there for about 6 months. I was planning on buying a cake but he asked for one I would never find so I decided to make it. He wanted Flash (red guy) being chased by a bad guy (yellow guy) on a motorcycle. We had a fun party the Saturday before his real birthday celebrating with cousins and a few classmates.
Silly face picture!
I think he liked sitting on the king throne.
Family pic!
He played with it for about 3 days then wasn't interested :(
He started the day with a pancake breakfast at home.
Daddy even took of part of the day off so we went to the Fort Worth stockyards. We had never been before. We saw the long horn cattle drive they do for the tourists everyday.
The stockyards were pretty cute and we had beautiful weather.
Burgers at one of Tim Love's restaurants.
One funny/sad story of the day not documented with pictures is that Lucas got his finger bit by a pony! By the longhorns pen there were about 3 ponies and we saw a little girl feeding them straw from the ground so we decided to try. I picked up some straw and fed the pony then gave a handful to Lucas. I started gathering straw for Marcus but I hadn't really gone over how to feed the ponies safely by holding the straw at the bottom and letting them eat from the top. Before I knew it poor Lucas put his whole hand in the ponies mouth with the straw and got a bite on his pointer finger. He cried for a short time but stopped because his is so tough. I felt awful but he recovered quickly and thinks the story is cool when we tell it today.
Happy Birthday my precious boy!
